Opening Markets for Monday, Sept. 21, 2026
Grain futures are higher in Monday morning trade, led by wheat as Black Sea tensions and fresh Chinese soybean buying support the complex.
- December corn: $5.32 3/4, up 5 1/4 cents.
- November soybeans: $13.09 1/2, up 6 cents.
- December Chicago wheat: $7.21 3/4, up 7 1/2 cents.
- December Kansas City hard red winter wheat: $7.92 3/4, up 9 cents.
Those grain figures reflect trading around 6 a.m. CT. Reports of additional Chinese purchases of U.S. soybeans ahead of this week’s U.S.-China summit are supporting beans. Wheat is also finding support from continued Russia-Ukraine attacks that are disrupting Black Sea grain movement.
Livestock futures have not opened for Monday trade. The latest figures are Friday’s settlements:
- October live cattle: $215.925, up 27 1/2 cents.
- October feeder cattle: $323.500, down 87 1/2 cents.
- October lean hogs: $78.100, down 80 cents.
Cattle finished Friday mixed ahead of USDA’s Cattle on Feed report, while lean hogs closed lower. Monday livestock trade begins later this morning.
