The Ranch Opening Markets | Wednesday, September 2, 2026
Grain futures are pulling back in early Wednesday trade after Tuesday’s strong start to September, while livestock futures remain closed until 8:30 a.m. Central.
Corn: December corn was trading near $5.37 1/2 a bushel around 6:19 a.m. Central, down 8 1/2 cents from Tuesday’s $5.46 settlement. Profit-taking is showing up after Tuesday’s rally pushed corn to fresh highs.
Soybeans: November soybeans were near $13.13, down about 4 3/4 cents from Tuesday’s $13.17 3/4 settlement. Beans are easing after Tuesday’s surge above $13, with traders balancing crop-condition concerns and biofuel support against early profit-taking.
Chicago Wheat: December Chicago wheat was near $7.65 1/2, down about 17 cents from the prior close. Wheat is giving back part of Tuesday’s gain even as Black Sea export risk remains in the background.
Kansas City HRW Wheat: December Kansas City hard red winter wheat was near $8.30 1/4, down about 15 cents from Tuesday’s settlement. The market is following the broader wheat pullback after the recent sharp rally.
Livestock: CME livestock futures have not opened for Wednesday. The latest available figures are Tuesday’s settlements: October live cattle at $212.075, down 60 cents; October feeder cattle at $315.400, down $1.60; and October lean hogs at $83.650, down 2 1/2 cents.
Cattle remain pressured by recent futures weakness even as boxed beef values improved Tuesday. Hogs finished nearly steady Tuesday, with the cash hog market stronger and pork cutout modestly higher.
