Diesel prices climb as planting season ramps up

Diesel prices are moving higher again, adding cost pressure for producers as spring planting activity increases across much of the country.

Fuel costs have risen alongside volatility in global oil markets, pushing diesel prices higher at a time when on-farm fuel demand is increasing. Diesel remains a critical input for fieldwork, transportation and daily operations.

Higher fuel prices can raise per-acre costs and impact margins, particularly during peak usage periods like planting and harvest. In addition to farm use, diesel also affects the cost of transporting inputs and commodities throughout the supply chain.

Analysts say fuel markets remain volatile, with prices expected to continue reacting to global supply and demand factors in the weeks ahead.
