Cattle and Wheat Climb as Hogs Slide Thursday

Ranch Closing Markets: Thursday, October 1, 2026

Cattle and wheat finished higher Thursday while soybeans and lean hogs closed lower.

  • December corn settled at $5.02 1/4, up 1 1/2 cents.
  • November soybeans settled at $12.84, down 9 cents.
  • December Chicago wheat settled at $6.82 3/4, up 7 cents.
  • December Kansas City hard red winter wheat settled at $7.37 1/2, up 4 1/2 cents.
  • October live cattle settled at $219.300, up $0.625.
  • October feeder cattle settled at $338.875, up $2.450.
  • October lean hogs settled at $77.500, down $1.225.

Corn recovered from an early dip despite light weekly export sales. Soybeans stayed lower as weakness in meal and oil outweighed stronger soybean export bookings. Wheat rallied late with fresh U.S. export business in focus. Live and feeder cattle gained alongside firmer cash cattle trade, while lean hogs fell as the national cash hog price declined.

Prices are final Barchart settlements for the October 1 session.
