Closing Markets: Cattle Slide as Grains Finish Mixed

The Ranch Closing Markets — Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026

Wednesday ended with a mixed grain board and renewed pressure in cattle futures. Corn recovered much of its early weakness, soybeans backed off Tuesday’s rally, and wheat finished mixed.

Corn: December corn settled at $5.43 1/2, down 2 1/2 cents. Strong corn use for ethanol helped limit losses.

Soybeans: November soybeans closed at $13.10 1/4, down 7 1/2 cents. Beans gave back part of Tuesday’s advance despite a fresh U.S. soybean sale to China.

Chicago Wheat: December Chicago wheat settled at $7.74, down 8 1/2 cents.

Kansas City HRW Wheat: December Kansas City hard red winter wheat closed at $8.34 1/2, down 11 cents. Wheat remained sensitive to Black Sea export developments.

Live Cattle: October live cattle settled at $210.175, down $1.90. Cattle continued to struggle for momentum amid cautious buying.

Feeder Cattle: October feeders closed at $314.375, down $1.025.

Lean Hogs: October lean hogs finished at $83.775, up 12 1/2 cents, holding onto a modest rebound.

Market figures reflect Wednesday’s verified futures settlements.
