Cattle Slide as Grains Pull Back Wednesday

Closing Markets for Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026

  • December corn settled at $5.43 1/2, down 2 1/2 cents.
  • November soybeans settled at $13.10 1/4, down 7 1/2 cents.
  • December Chicago wheat settled at $7.74, down 8 1/2 cents.
  • December Kansas City hard red winter wheat settled at $8.34 1/4, down 11 cents.
  • October live cattle settled at $210.175, down $1.90.
  • October feeder cattle settled at $314.375, down $1.025.
  • October lean hogs settled at $83.775, up 12 1/2 cents.

Grains pulled back after Tuesday’s rally. Soybeans gave back part of the previous session’s sharp gain as soybean oil and meal moved lower. Corn eased despite recovering from overnight weakness, while Chicago and Kansas City wheat both finished lower as recent volatility continued.

Cattle futures remained under pressure even as northern cash business developed at $345 dressed and $218 live. Feeder cattle also fell as the CME Feeder Cattle Index continued to retreat. October hogs edged higher with the national cash hog price reported up 75 cents Wednesday morning.
