Wheat Leads Tuesday Opening Markets

THE RANCH OPENING MARKETS — TUESDAY, SEPT. 8

Grain futures opened the post-Labor Day week mostly higher Tuesday morning, led by a sharp rally in wheat.

Corn: December corn was up 2 1/2 cents at $5.39 1/4 per bushel shortly after 6:15 a.m. CT.

Soybeans: November soybeans were up 1/4 cent at $13.10 per bushel.

Chicago Wheat: December CBOT wheat was up 14 1/4 cents at $7.48 1/4 per bushel.

Hard Red Winter Wheat: December Kansas City wheat was up 17 1/4 cents at $8.19 1/2 per bushel.

Wheat is setting the pace following renewed uncertainty surrounding Russia-Ukraine negotiations. Corn is modestly higher while soybeans are holding close to unchanged as traders weigh wetter forecasts and crop prospects ahead of Friday’s USDA supply and demand report.

Livestock futures had not yet opened at the time of this opening report following the Labor Day holiday, so The Ranch is not presenting Friday’s cattle and hog settlements as current Tuesday trade.

Market information reflects early Tuesday trade and can change throughout the session.
