Grains and Cattle Surge Tuesday

Ranch Closing Markets: Tuesday, October 6, 2026

Grain futures rallied Tuesday, while live and feeder cattle posted sharp gains. Front-month lean hogs finished just above unchanged.

  • December corn settled at $5.08, up 10 3/4 cents.
  • November soybeans settled at $13.03, up 22 1/4 cents.
  • December Chicago wheat settled at $7.04 1/4, up 12 cents.
  • December Kansas City hard red winter wheat settled at $7.56 1/4, up 14 cents.
  • October live cattle settled at $221.225, up $3.975.
  • October feeder cattle settled at $340.500, up $6.650.
  • October lean hogs settled at $77.925, up $0.075.

Corn drew support from record August exports, while soybeans strengthened as harvest continued to lag the normal pace. Wheat posted double-digit gains with winter wheat planting behind average and fresh Black Sea concerns in the trade. Cattle futures jumped before weekly cash business developed. October hogs edged higher, though later contracts weakened as cash hog and pork values moved lower.

Prices are final Barchart settlements for the October 6 session.
