Uncertainty around the next farm bill is continuing to hang over agriculture as lawmakers remain divided on several key issues.

While both parties agree updates are needed, disagreements over nutrition spending, disaster aid and regulatory provisions are slowing progress.

One of the biggest sticking points remains the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which makes up a large portion of farm bill funding. Disaster programs and proposals to expand year-round E15 sales are also part of ongoing debate.

Farm groups are pushing for action, warning that delays are adding stress for producers already facing tight margins and high input costs.

Without a new bill, current programs will continue under temporary extensions which will be keeping support in place for now, but leaving long-term policy questions unanswered.

Lawmakers say talks are ongoing, but there is still no clear timeline for passage.
