Corn Tumbles as Cattle Rally Friday

Ranch Closing Markets: Friday, Oct. 9, 2026

Corn and wheat futures fell sharply Friday after USDA raised crop and supply estimates. Soybeans recovered to finish higher, while live and feeder cattle rallied as the drop in corn reduced feed-cost pressure.

  • December corn settled at $4.79 3/4, down 20 1/2 cents.
  • November soybeans settled at $12.92, up 4 1/2 cents.
  • December Chicago wheat settled at $6.71, down 12 1/4 cents.
  • December Kansas City hard red winter wheat settled at $7.19 1/4, down 17 cents.
  • October live cattle settled at $224.975, up $3.10.
  • October feeder cattle settled at $343.850, up $5.825.
  • October lean hogs settled at $75.050, down 77 1/2 cents.

USDA raised its corn yield and production outlook, pressuring corn, and increased projected U.S. wheat stocks. Soybeans shook off earlier weakness, while cattle futures gained on sharply lower feed costs. Lean hogs extended their recent slide.

Prices are final Barchart settlements for the Oct. 9 session.
