KANSAS CITY, Mo. — About 100 cattle breeders, researchers and beef industry professionals met in Kansas City in August to discuss how genetics and management decisions affect profits across the cattle business.
Angus Genetics Inc. hosted the two-day forum Aug. 18-19. Discussions covered market demands for cattle genetics, the value of traits such as fertility and health, and ways to improve red meat yield.
Participants also identified a need for better data sharing from one segment of the beef supply chain to the next. The group examined how genetics, management and growing conditions work together to affect cattle performance and producer returns.
It was the organization’s second beef genetics forum. Angus Genetics Inc. plans to publish a fuller account of the discussions in early 2027.
