Ranch Closing Markets: Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026
Grain futures finished lower Thursday as traders positioned ahead of Friday’s USDA crop reports. October live cattle managed a small gain, while feeder cattle eased and lean hogs took the sharpest livestock loss.
- December corn settled at $5.00 1/4, down 1 3/4 cents.
- November soybeans settled at $12.87 1/2, down 10 cents.
- December Chicago wheat settled at $6.83 1/4, down 3 1/4 cents.
- December Kansas City hard red winter wheat settled at $7.36 1/4, down 2 1/4 cents.
- October live cattle settled at $221.875, up 27 1/2 cents.
- October feeder cattle settled at $338.025, down 12 1/2 cents.
- October lean hogs settled at $75.825, down $1.10.
Soybeans faced pressure from soft weekly export sales, while corn and wheat also faded before the USDA updates. Lean hogs remained under pressure as pork values weakened, and October cattle were the lone gainer in the seven markets.
Prices are final Barchart settlements for the Oct. 8 session.
