The Ranch Opening Markets — Monday, Sept. 14, 2026
Monday’s opening update begins with the latest verified grain quotes and Friday livestock settlements. Grain trade is digesting USDA’s September report after soybeans and wheat took the heaviest pressure Friday.
Corn: December corn is $5.30 1/4, down 3 1/2 cents in the latest verified quote. USDA cut its U.S. corn yield estimate to 178.5 bushels per acre, but the reduction was not enough to spark sustained buying Friday.
Soybeans: November soybeans are $12.96 1/2, down 35 3/4 cents. USDA raised soybean production and yield estimates, triggering heavier selling after the report.
Chicago Wheat: December Chicago wheat is $7.25 1/4, down 16 cents.
Kansas City HRW Wheat: December Kansas City hard red winter wheat is $7.98 1/2, down 20 1/4 cents. Larger projected global wheat stocks added pressure to the wheat complex.
Livestock futures are not yet open for Monday’s regular session. These are Friday’s verified settlements and are not being presented as Monday trade.
Live Cattle: December live cattle settled Friday at $222.225, up $2.625.
Feeder Cattle: October feeder cattle settled at $332.500, up $4.950.
Lean Hogs: October lean hogs settled at $81.525, down $1.625.
Cattle enter the week with momentum after Friday’s rally, while hogs start from a weaker close. Grain markets remain focused on harvest, USDA’s revised supply outlook and sharply higher transportation and fuel costs.
Market figures are the latest independently verified quotes available at publication. Prior settlements are clearly identified where Monday trading was not yet available.
