Opening Markets: Corn Steady Ahead of USDA Report

The Ranch Opening Markets — Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026

Grain futures are starting Thursday quietly as traders position ahead of Friday’s USDA WASDE report. December corn is near $5.28 1/4, up about 1/2 cent in the latest available early trade. Wheat is slightly softer, while the market continues to watch Black Sea supply concerns and sharply higher energy prices. Brent crude has pushed above $100 a barrel.

Corn: December corn near $5.28 1/4, up about 1/2 cent.

Soybeans: November soybeans last settled Wednesday at $13.09 1/2, down 6 3/4 cents. A sufficiently current Thursday quote was not available at publication time, so Wednesday’s settlement is used rather than presenting a stale quote as current.

Chicago Wheat: December Chicago wheat near $7.26 3/4, down about 2 cents in the latest available early trade.

Kansas City HRW Wheat: December Kansas City hard red winter wheat last settled Wednesday at $8.06 1/4, down 12 3/4 cents. A verified Thursday quote was not available at publication time.

Livestock futures have not opened for Thursday’s regular session, so these are Wednesday’s verified settlements:

Live Cattle: October $215.85, down $1.175.

Feeder Cattle: October $325.825, up about 37 1/2 cents.

Lean Hogs: October $83.075, down $1.175.

Grain traders are keeping risk tight ahead of Friday’s USDA supply-and-demand update, with corn and soybean yield expectations in focus. Wheat remains sensitive to Black Sea export disruptions. In livestock, cattle were mixed Wednesday while hogs pulled back on profit-taking after Tuesday’s rally.

Market figures reflect the latest verified information available at publication time. Futures prices can change quickly.
