THE RANCH OPENING MARKETS — WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 9
Grain futures are mixed early Wednesday, with wheat leading the strength as Black Sea export concerns remain in focus and crude oil pushes above $100 a barrel.
Corn: December corn is at $5.32 1/2, down 1 cent.
Soybeans: November soybeans are at $13.18, up 1 3/4 cents.
Chicago Wheat: December CBOT wheat is at $7.51 1/4, up 4 1/4 cents.
Kansas City HRW Wheat: December KC wheat is at $8.24, up 5 cents.
Wheat continues to carry a geopolitical premium as attacks and shipping disruptions around the Black Sea threaten grain flows. Corn is slightly lower while soybeans are modestly higher. Energy markets are also in focus after Brent crude moved above $100 a barrel amid escalating Middle East fighting.
Livestock futures have not opened for Wednesday trade. The latest verified figures are Tuesday’s settlements.
Live Cattle: October live cattle settled Tuesday at $217.025, up $4.075.
Feeder Cattle: October feeders settled at $325.450, up $5.30.
Lean Hogs: October hogs settled at $84.250, up $1.95.
Grain quotes reflect delayed early Wednesday trade. Livestock prices are Tuesday settlements because Wednesday CME livestock trading had not opened at publication time.
