Closing Markets: Wheat and Soybeans Finish Strong

The Ranch Closing Markets — Friday, Aug. 28, 2026

Grain markets finished the week higher, led by wheat and soybeans. Cattle futures moved lower while lean hogs rallied into the close.

Corn: December corn closed at $5.36 1/2, up 3 cents. Crop-size concerns and buying interest supported the market.

Soybeans: November soybeans closed at $12.88, up 20 cents. Export demand and continued overseas buying helped support the rally.

Chicago Wheat: December soft red winter wheat closed at $7.84, up 23 1/4 cents. Black Sea shipping and supply concerns remained the major driver.

Kansas City HRW Wheat: December hard red winter wheat closed at $8.44 1/4, up 22 cents, joining the broader wheat rally.

Live Cattle: October live cattle closed at $211.725, down $1.20. Technical selling and softer cash and wholesale fundamentals pressured futures.

Feeder Cattle: November feeder cattle closed at $309.925, down $1.55. Feeders followed live cattle lower as selling returned to the cattle complex.

Lean Hogs: October lean hogs closed at $81.90, up $1.275. Short covering and bargain buying lifted the nearby contract into the close.
