Closing Markets for Tuesday, August 25, 2026
Corn and soybean futures finished Tuesday with solid gains as traders reacted to declining crop ratings and renewed export demand. Wheat ended modestly higher, while most livestock contracts remained under pressure.
Grain Markets
Corn: September corn closed at $5.00 1/2 per bushel, up 9 cents. December corn finished at $5.23 1/2, up 8 cents. Buying strengthened after the national corn condition rating dropped three percentage points, raising fresh questions about final yield potential.
Soybeans: September soybeans closed at $12.28, up 12 cents. November soybeans settled at $12.37 3/4, up 13 1/2 cents. Export demand helped support the move after USDA reported another sale of new-crop soybeans to an unknown destination.
Chicago Wheat: September soft red winter wheat finished at $6.85 1/2, up 3 3/4 cents.
Kansas City Wheat: September hard red winter wheat closed at $7.54 1/2, up 4 cents. Technical buying and continued concern over Black Sea grain movement offered support to both wheat markets.
Livestock Markets
Live Cattle: October live cattle closed at $210.95, down about $2.65.
Feeder Cattle: September feeder cattle finished at $319.27 1/2, down about $4.95.
Lean Hogs: October lean hogs closed at $80.45, down about 67 cents.
Cattle futures remained under pressure as traders weighed resumed cattle movement from Mexico and proposed tariff relief for imported ground beef. Lean hogs weakened as the market continued its seasonal move away from summer demand.
