Corn Higher as Cattle Markets Tumble Monday

Corn started the week higher Monday while soybeans lost ground and the wheat market finished mixed. Cattle futures came under heavy selling pressure, while lean hogs managed a modest gain.
December corn closed 7 cents higher at $5.15 1/2 per bushel.
November soybeans finished 15 1/4 cents lower at $12.24 1/4.
December Chicago wheat gained less than a penny, closing at $6.99 1/2.
December Kansas City hard red winter wheat lost 5 1/4 cents, finishing at $7.67 1/4.
Livestock
Cattle futures took the biggest hit Monday.
October live cattle dropped $4.33, closing at $213.60 per hundredweight.
October feeder cattle fell $5.38, settling at $318.28.
Pressure in cattle came as traders continued reacting to beef import policy and Monday’s reopening of the Douglas, Arizona, port to Mexican feeder cattle.
October lean hogs bucked the livestock weakness, gaining 25 cents to close at $81.13.

- Feeder Cattle: $318.28 — down $5.38
- Lean Hogs: $81.13 — up 25 cents
