Grain markets found some strength to finish the week while cattle and hog futures turned in a mixed close
CHICAGO — Corn and soybeans finished Friday on the plus side as traders wrapped up another week of watching crop conditions, yield expectations and demand.
December corn closed at $5.08 1/2, gaining 5 cents on the session. September corn also gained 5 cents, finishing at $4.83 3/4.
Soybeans joined corn in positive territory. November beans closed at $12.39 1/2, up 3 cents. September soybeans finished at $12.25, gaining 4 1/4 cents.
Wheat had a tougher Friday.
September Chicago wheat settled at $6.81 1/2, down 1 1/4 cents. September Kansas City hard red winter wheat lost 6 cents to close at $7.56 1/4.
Friday Livestock Close
Livestock futures were mixed heading into the weekend.
October live cattle slipped 7 cents to $217.92, while December live cattle gained 22 cents to $218.50.
September feeder cattle edged 10 cents higher to $329.02, and October feeders gained 95 cents to finish at $323.65.
Lean hogs finished stronger. October hogs gained 65 cents to $80.87, while December added 77 cents to close at $71.52.

October Lean Hogs: $80.87, up 65 cents
Corn and soybeans carried some green into the weekend, while wheat struggled and the livestock board finished mixed.
The markets reopen Monday with traders turning their attention back to late August crop conditions and the approach of fall harvest.
