Jake Worthington Hits The Brakes

Texas country singer Jake Worthington is stepping away from music for a while after admitting the road life finally started catching up with him.

Worthington dropped the news Friday on social media, saying the same hard living lifestyle that shaped many of his country music heroes started taking a toll on his own life. He told fans he needs time to focus on his health, his wife and his little girl before things get any worse.

The Texas native did not get into specifics about what exactly led to the decision, but the message was clear. Family comes first.

Worthington wrote that he loves country music, but he loves his family more, adding that he plans to come back stronger once he takes time to straighten things out.

The move drew support from across the country music world almost immediately. Carly Pearce, Dierks Bentley, Tracy Byrd and Joe Nichols were among the artists backing Worthington’s decision to hit pause and focus on life off the stage.

So far, no tour dates have officially been canceled. Worthington’s current schedule does not pick back up until late July when he is expected to open select dates for Luke Bryan before launching his own Intent To Tonk Tour Repeat Offender run.

Worthington first made noise nationally during Season 6 of The Voice back in 2014, but over the last few years he has carved out a strong lane with traditional country fans and Texas country listeners alike.

The singer is signed to Big Loud Texas, the Texas focused label launched by Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall.

Worthington and his wife Sophie welcomed their daughter Whitley Ann in 2024.
