MOLINE, Ill. — John Deere plans to add more than 675 workers through new hiring and recalls, including the return of hundreds of laid-off employees to its Waterloo, Iowa, operations.
The company’s Oct. 30 announcement calls for more than 400 new hires across its factories and over 275 callbacks in Waterloo in the coming months.
Those recalls would bring Deere’s total callbacks since 2024 to about 1,000.
Deere says the latest round means all employees previously on layoff in Waterloo, the Quad Cities, Ottumwa and Dubuque have been asked to return. About 125 employees remain on layoff in the Des Moines area.
Hiring locations include Harvester Works, Seeding and Cylinder operations in Moline, Illinois, and the North American Parts Distribution Center in Milan, Illinois.
Iowa openings include Davenport Works, Dubuque Works and Ottumwa Works. Coffeyville Works in Kansas is also hiring.
Deere says the additional workers will help it continue serving customers under different operating conditions, including future labor negotiations.
The announcement gives no plant-by-plant hiring totals or specific starting dates beyond the coming months.
