Livestock Slide as Grains Ease Thursday

Ranch Closing Markets — Thursday, September 24, 2026

Thursday brought a softer finish across the board, with modest losses in the grain pit and a sharper pullback in livestock.

  • December corn settled at $5.27 1/2, down 1 1/2 cents.
  • November soybeans settled at $13.17 1/2, down 1/2 cent.
  • December Chicago wheat settled at $7.07, down 1 1/2 cents.
  • December Kansas City hard red winter wheat settled at $7.67, down 4 3/4 cents.
  • October live cattle settled at $219.075, down $1.850.
  • October feeder cattle settled at $331.750, down $1.575.
  • October lean hogs settled at $79.200, down 67 1/2 cents.

Corn eased as export business disappointed, soybeans slipped with little fresh U.S.-China news, and both wheat markets stayed under pressure. Livestock also backed away: early cash cattle trade was reported at $222 to $223 live and $348 to $355 dressed in the North, while hog futures fell even as USDA reported a tighter hog inventory.

Prices are final Barchart settlements for the September 24 session.
