Grain markets are mixed to lower Friday morning. December corn is near $5.30, roughly unchanged to slightly lower from Thursday’s $5.30 1/2 settlement. November soybeans are near $13.05 to $13.08, down about 12 to 14 cents. December Chicago wheat is near $7.23 to $7.24, down about 3 to 4 cents. December Kansas City Hard Red Winter wheat is near $7.91, down about 3 to 4 cents in the latest verified trade.
Soybeans are taking the biggest hit as soybean meal backs away from recent highs. A firmer U.S. dollar and crude oil near $100 are also limiting the grain complex. Rain across parts of the Midwest continues to slow fieldwork, providing some underlying support to corn and wheat.
Livestock futures have not opened for Friday trade. Thursday settlements: October live cattle $215.65, down $2.80; October feeder cattle $324.375, down $5.275; October lean hogs $78.90, up 22 cents. Cattle remain under pressure ahead of Friday’s USDA Cattle on Feed report and after another sharp selloff Thursday.
