Opening markets on The Ranch

Grain and livestock markets opened mixed as traders continue reacting to supply expectations and outside market signals.

Corn futures started slightly lower with the July contract at 4.66 and a quarter, down one and a quarter. Soybeans moved higher with the July contract at 11.94 and three quarters, up two and a half. Wheat showed modest strength with Chicago wheat at 6.12 and a half, up half a cent, and Kansas City wheat at 6.69 and a quarter, up two cents.

In livestock trade, cattle futures opened under pressure. June live cattle were at 250.05, down 3.42, while August feeder cattle were at 366.17, down 6.87. Lean hogs were slightly lower with June contracts at 99.37, down 32 cents.

Markets remain sensitive to short-term supply changes and broader economic factors, with volatility continuing early in the session.
